Kunda, Uttar Pradesh | Global Desk — In the heart of rural India, a quiet but powerful movement is taking root—one that is reshaping families, strengthening economies, and redefining the future for thousands of women. The Mahila Udyami Foundation, led globally by Dr. Virginia Rivera in partnership with Adv. Peeyush Pandit, has emerged as one of the most promising women’s empowerment initiatives connecting rural India to the global stage.
Founded on the belief that “when a woman rises, her entire village rises with her,” the Foundation is rapidly becoming a model for grassroots development across the region.
A Mission Rooted in Dignity, Opportunity, and Hope
Mahila Udyami operates with a clear mission:
to equip rural women with the skills, resources, and confidence they need to create sustainable livelihoods and lead change within their communities.
Through its flagship programs, the organization offers:
• Skills development training in tailoring, stitching, handicrafts, food processing, and home-based industries
• Entrepreneurship development, helping women launch and manage micro-businesses
• Digital literacy lessons, ensuring women can access modern tools and opportunities
• Leadership development, building courage, identity, and community voice
• Safe spaces for learning, collaboration, and personal growth
These programs are already changing the lives of women who previously had limited access to education, technology, or employment opportunities.

A Global Vision Presented on Global Stages
In late 2025, Mahila Udyami’s mission received international attention when CEO Dr. Virginia Rivera, also a global social entrepreneur and leader from Puerto Rico, presented the work of the Foundation at major global gatherings:
• Creative Women Platform Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
• Leadership meetings and partnerships in London, England
Rivera’s message—“Empowering Hands. Enabling Dreams. Elevating Lives.”—has resonated with leaders, philanthropists, and women’s networks around the world.
Her call to action has been clear—“Supporting rural women is not charity; it is smart, sustainable development.”

Building the Mahila Udyami Global Women’s Empowerment & Business Hub
A major milestone for the Foundation is the construction of a 5,000 sq. ft. Global Women’s Empowerment & Business Hub in EVillage, Kunda.
This facility will become:
• A training center
• A digital learning lab
• A co-working space
• A resource and support hub
• A community center for women-led events and leadership circles
Surrounded by the emerging Mahila Udyami Sarovar (lake) and sustainable eco-spaces, the Hub will serve thousands of women in the coming years.
The Ripple Effect: Economic and Social Transformation
Early results indicate that Mahila Udyami’s programs are creating measurable change:
• Women are earning income for the first time
• Families report increased financial stability
• Girls in the community are inspired to continue their studies
• Husbands and village leaders are increasingly supportive of women’s participation
• A culture of confidence and possibility is emerging in areas where women once felt invisible
This transformation is not only economic—it is psychological, cultural, and generational.
A Global Community Rallying Behind Rural Women
Thanks to strategic partnerships with global networks such as:
• Mujer Emprende Latina (Puerto Rico & Latin America)
• International Internship University (IIU)
• Creative Women Platform (Saudi Arabia)
• Global Festival 2026 Delegates from multiple countries
Mahila Udyami is now part of a worldwide movement advocating for women’s economic participation.
Donors and supporters worldwide are contributing through the Foundation’s “Empower a Woman, Transform a Village” initiative, brick and wall sponsorships, and Giving Tuesday campaigns.

A Future Built by Women, for Women
With construction of its hub underway, expansion to new villages planned, and a global team advocating for its mission, the Mahila Udyami Foundation is positioned to become a major catalyst for rural women’s empowerment in India.
Adv. Peeyush Pandit, India Chair of Mahila Udyami, shared:
“Mahila Udyami is not simply a program; it is a revolution in rural India. Every brick, every training, every woman who gains skills is shaping the future of her village. Our daughters deserve a world where opportunities reach them, not the other way around. Together, we are building that world.”
His leadership has been instrumental in mobilizing the EVillage community, coordinating infrastructure, and championing rural women’s voices at the state and national levels.
As Dr. Rivera often says:
“We are not just building programs. We are building futures.”
And in the words the Foundation has embraced as its anthem:
When she rises, we all rise.
