1000 Acts of Peace Turns World Peace Day Into a Global Movement of Action

International Internship University and Global Festival 2027 unite peace ambassadors, educators, veterans, humanitarians, schools and communities — reaching 1,000 acts of peace in one day, with 4,000 more pledged for the week ahead

New Delhi, India — September 21, 2026 — International Internship University (IIU), in collaboration with Global Festival 2027, marked the International Day of Peace with 1000 Acts of Peace, a global initiative designed to move peace beyond speeches and declarations and into everyday action.

Within one day, the initiative reached its goal of 1,000 Acts of Peace and Kindness, with another 4,000 acts pledged for the week ahead. Peace Activators from different countries, professions and generations joined around one central message: peacebuilding is taught, peacebuilding is built, peacebuilding is intentional — and it starts with us.

For Dr. Virginia Rivera, CEO of International Internship University, peace is not simply the absence of conflict. It must be intentionally built into the conditions that allow people and communities to thrive.

“Peace is not passive. Peace has infrastructure. Peace has systems. Peace has choices. Peace has people.”— Dr. Virginia Rivera

Rivera connected peace with education, freedom, dignity, participation and opportunity. “When people are free to learn, free to contribute, free to dream, and treated with dignity, communities become stronger. When communities become stronger, opportunity grows. And where opportunity grows, prosperity has a greater chance to reach more people.”

Her message was clear: lasting peace is not created by words alone. It is built. Peace Begins With the Simplest of Acts. Peace can begin with something very small — giving love to someone, listening, including, encouraging or simply making another person feel seen.

For children, many of those lessons begin at home and continue in school. At James International School and St. George School in India, committed Peace Activator teachers helped generate more than 400 Acts of Peace among students through kindness, inclusion, encouragement, respect and service.

School leadership went even further by incorporating peacebuilding into a PTA meeting, engaging parents in conversations about how peace can be practiced at home through communication, listening, affection, respect and healthy conflict resolution.

The message became powerful in its simplicity: children learn peace when the adults around them live it.

Serving as Host and Main Anchor was H.E. Amb. Dr. Theresa A. Moseley, Global Peace Ambassador, Founder of the Peace, Passion & Purpose Summit, President of the Global Festival Fellowship, Owner and Chief Executive of TAM Creating Ambassadors of Peace LLC, and the first Global Festival Delegate.

“Peace is not simply something we hope for; it is something we have to practice. Every one of us has the ability to become an ambassador of peace through how we lead, how we speak, how we serve, and how we treat another human being. When ordinary people intentionally choose peace every day, extraordinary change becomes possible.”
